Il Giorno (via Calciomercato.com) reports this morning that another shock has arrived on the San Siro front for Inter and Milan and it comes in the form of an appeal against the sale of the current stadium to the clubs, a vital part of the plans.
The ‘Sì Meazza’ committee of Luigi Corbani, the promoters of the referendum and a network of Milanese committees and entities have presented a new appeal to the Court of Appeal for Lombardy to try to block the sale.
Details of the appeal
According to the appellants, the restriction on the demolition of the second tier of San Siro has already been triggered as the 70-year threshold has already passed, despite the talk that it would actually be later this summer.
Il Giorno relays the details: “The indication of the date of 10 November 2025 for the effective date of the architectural constraint on the second tier of the stadium ‘is incorrect, arbitrary, unjustified and also contained in an opinion of the Superintendency which does not express a definitive judgement on the point and, indeed, recalls contradictory data.
“In fact, there is historical evidence of the fact that the structure was progressively existing and even used from the end of 1954 and, even more so, in June/July 1955′. The restriction is therefore ‘reasonably already in force’.”
If all this were true, Inter and Milan could only purchase the structures that have not yet turned 70, or 23.15% of the second tier. The request is to ‘precautionarily suspend the documents at the centre of the appeal and, evaluating the merits, declare them null and void’.
