After a scrappy first half yielded no goals, but Milan’s moment to break things open came early in the second half. Christopher Nkunku latched onto a stray back pass and got to it just before the goalkeeper who chopped him down, and he tucked away the penalty.
Zachary Athekame then doubled the advantage with a sweet low strike inside the final 15 minutes, but Vasquez pulled one back to make it a nervy finish. Thankfully the Rossoneri hung on for a 2-1 win that puts them just one win away from sealing a top four spot.
After the final whistle, Massimiliano Allegri was eager to stress that the job is not yet done, with Cagliari at home being the game that will close out the season and hopefully the Champions League mission.
