In the months approaching the final phase of the season, the former Inter and Juventus coach has often been spoken of as a possible name for the Rossoneri bench to replace the outgoing Stefano Pioli.
Some less reliable sources even spoke of an agreement that had already been reached between the parties. There was talk of salary figures and a summer mercato already planned out, but we always told you that he was never considered by the leadership.
In the meantime, his assistant Christian Stellini spoke in the media recently and seemingly tried to tempt Milan into reflecting on their stance, but the Rossoneri are going for Paulo Fonseca as it stands.
Ordine made some interesting statements during a TeleLombardia broadcast in which he suggested that Conte has been doing his research ahead of potential contacts from Milan, which are yet to materialise it seems.
“If you took Conte away from Napoli, Pioli would go to Napoli and you would save Pioli’s salary. Conte has watched 20 AC Milan matches in the last 40 days,” he said (via PianetaMilan).
