Although it hasn’t been announced by Milan yet, Igli Tare confirmed during a recent press conference that an agreement has been reached with Modric. His contract with Real Madrid will expire at the end of the month but he wanted to complete the Club World Cup adventure first.
As a result, Samuele Ricci will end up being the first signing for the summer, but Modric will follow shortly after. Despite being 39 years old, set to turn 40 in September, the midfielder is eager to get started with the red and black shirt.
New-found enthusiasm
As told by Carlos Passerini on his YouTube channel, Modric is looking forward to wearing the shirt he has always supported since he was a kid. While it’s clear that his experience will be the most important thing, he might surprise some of us with his performances as well…
“Modric has been signed. For me, he will be a surprise. I expect a lot as he will be key to this new Milan side, I have had confirmation from those close to him that the player is very excited.
“He has no intention of coming to Milan to collect his pension. He will make his contribution and many will be surprised by this contribution,” he stated.
It remains to be seen what Modric can do at San Siro but there is no doubting his qualities, even at the age of 39.
