Messias joined Milan on loan with an option to buy from Crotone on deadline day during the summer window, but it was not an easy start to life with the Rossoneri for him due to a period of natural acclimatisation and the injury problems he had.
Messias’ story was brought into the eyes of football fans around the world when he scored on his debut in the Champions League through a header that gave Milan their first win in the tournament after seven years of absence, and he has five goals in all competitions in the current campaign.
According to Calciomercato.com, Pioli considers the 30-year-old a starter in his team and he has shown that he has no problems in giving him the nod ahead of Alexis Saelemaekers. That is why he has made it clear that if it were up to him then Messias would be bought outright and would stay into the new season.
