The Rossoneri are currently owned by American fund Elliott Management, who essentially seized control of the club last year when previous owner Yonghong Li defaulted on the repayment of loans he took out to buy Milan.

There has been speculation that buyers are interested in taking over, including links with a €1billion takeover from the owner of Luis Vuitton and some groups in the Middle East.

Now, well-known journalist Maurizio Pistocchi reports that Sheik Amad Bin Ali Al Thani, the owner of Al-Rayyan SC in Qatar, wants to buy an Italian club.

“I hope very soon to buy an Italian club: I like them with the red jersey,” the Sheik reportedly said.

A report from PianetaMilan believes that it is ‘natural to link the statements of al Thani to Milan’, especially given the speculation surrounding interest from that part of the world.

There is also Roma however, another big Italian club who play in red.

Qatar Investment Authority are state-owned and in 2017 had assets worth around $335bn USD (as per Wikipedia). They are also connected to PSG owners Qatari Sports Investment.
