Report: Milan could pounce as Barcelona decide to sell centre-back – deal possible at €22m

AC Milan could make a move for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet in the January transfer window, according to a report.

It is no secret that Milan were determined to sign a central defender during the summer market but in the end they were unable to get a deal over the line, despite negotiating on multiple fronts for players like Takehiro Tomiyasu of Bologna, Ozan Kabak of Schalke and Mohamed Simakan of Strasbourg.

It is therefore anticipated that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will try again for a centre-back once the window reopens, and according to Calciomercatonews.com an opportunity may present itself from Catalunya.

They cite Don Balon who reported that Barcelona have decided to let Clement Lenglet leave in January having become frustrated with his performances, and Milan could be ready to pounce.

The operation could be concluded on the basis of a loan with option or obligation to buy set at €22m, and Elliott are likely to approve given he is still only 25.
