Romano: The curious case of Zaracho and how he almost joined Milan one year ago

Matias Zaracho and Milan were very close to each other a year ago, when Zvone Boban was also at the helm of the Rossoneri management. The Croatian, though, is no longer part of the club.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano for Calciomercato.com, Boban was the one behind Milan’s interest in the attacking midfielder. The costs were in line with the project and that’s why the Rossoneri thought about it, obtaining the player’s yes.

However, the story is quite different today. Zaracho chose Atlético Mineiro in order to leave Racing, where he moved last week for €5m. It was an operation that surprised everyone, considering that he cost at least €15m ten months ago.

The European call didn’t arrive in September, so he chose Brazil to change air without losing sight of Italy. Yes, because Zaracho would have liked a move to Milan and he still has hopes for the future.

However, the Rossoneri have improved a lot in the last year and Boban is no longer at the club. The parties being close, therefore, seems like a very distant memory.
