Sassuolo CEO says ‘anything can happen’ with player sales amid Berardi to Milan links

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has insisted that the Neroverdi doesn’t have to sell its key players this summer, but is prepared for them to leave in any case.

Domenico Berardi has been continually linked with a move to Milan as the Rossoneri consider bolstering their wide options, while Giacomo Raspadori and Gianluca Scamacca have also been linked with moves away from the club.

In an interview with SkySport (quoted by MilanNews), Carnevali addressed the issue of player sales: “We have sold four players in the last year, we do not need to give up and we want to keep the backbone.”

Despite playing down the need to sell players, he admitted: “As a club we are preparing anyway because anything can happen.

“There are requests but we don’t need to sell, maybe we’ll raise the bar too.”

Carnevali described the issue as ‘complicated’ with plenty of top sides circling Sassuolo’s most prized assets, particularly Berardi and Scamacca.

As well as being linked with Berardi, reports suggest Milan are also keeping an eye on Scamacca as they look to refresh their striker roster. Sassuolo lost Manuel Locatelli to Juventus last summer, and Jeremie Boga to Atalanta at the beginning of 2022
