AC Milan will switch formations to a 4-3-3 moving forwards this season, according to the latest reports from Sky Italia (via MilanNews).
There have been rumours about a potential change back to the formation used under Gennaro Gattuso for the vast majority of last season since the opening game of 2019-20.
Milan were beaten 1-0 in Udinese to begin the campaign, failing to register a single shot on target in the process.
Giampaolo told Sky Italia after the game (via Football Italia) that he is considering scrapping the 4-3-1-2 in favour of a 4-3-3.
Sky – as cited by MilanNews.it – have always maintained that Milan will return to using the 4-3-3 as Giampaolo alluded to, and now they have re-iterated that once again.
The arrival of Ante Rebic on deadline day obviously gives Giampaolo a more obvious choice for the left side, and as a result Sky have predicted how the Rossoneri’s starting XI will look once the squad is fully fit.
Donnarumma; Calabria, Caldara (Duarte), Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Calhanoglu, Bennacer, Paquetà; Suso, Piatek (Leao), Rebic.
