Tijjani Reijnders’ move to Manchester City was made official on Wednesday, as he departed in a deal that could reach over €70m with bonuses. He played 104 games and scored 19 goals in that time, winning the award for best midfielder in Lega Serie A.

What that means is that it will be a tall order to replace him. The first addition looks like being Luka Modric on a free transfer from Real Madrid, while Granit Xhaka is also a concrete target.

A mix of experience and youth

Modric and Xhaka, while of course not lacking in quality and experience, are certainly on the older side. The Rossoneri are thinking about the present, but in the meantime they are also working on the future with ‘minor’ operations.

One of these concerns Kevin Pasalic, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), an 18-year-old from Norrkoping who is also liked by Roma.

He is a physical central defender (1.95m tall) with good technique. He is left-footed and a member of the youth teams of Sweden.

A detail that is far from secondary is that he would be available on a free transfer, so Milan could snap him up for a small consolation fee.
