Toulouse president confirms closing date for Milan takeover and discusses possible collaboration

Toulouse president Damien Comolli has confirmed the date that RedBird Capital should complete the acquisition of AC Milan from Elliott Management.

Milan officially confirmed RedBird’s takeover of the club in June after Elliott Management decided to sell the majority of their shares. RedBird bought a minority stake in Fenway Sports Group, the owners of Liverpool FC, and purchased a majority stake in Toulouse back in 2020.

Comolli – the president of Toulouse who are a club owned by RedBird – spoke to L’Equipe earlier this year about the methods behind their promotion back to the top flight, which gives an insight into what Milan fans can perhaps expect.

Now, he has given an interview to ActuToulouse and spoke about the closing of the deal to buy Milan, suggesting that a collaboration between the Rossoneri and Toulouse is not something that is currently in the pipeline.

“The closing of [the deal to buy] AC Milan is scheduled for September 6. We will have a better vision of what will happen after this date. The two clubs will be independent,” he said.

A collaboration? We haven’t talked about it. But anything is possible. Anything that can make us progress will be good to take. But I confess that this is not a subject that we have discussed for the moment.”
