Tuttosport: Barcelona’s €165m man could join Milan on loan but a key obstacle exists

AC Milan could potentially sign Philippe Coutinho on loan but there is an obstacle to a potential deal, according to a report.

There is one topic dominating the media headlines surrounding Milan at the moment and that is who will replace Hakan Calhanoglu, with the playmaker having recently joined Inter on a free transfer after deciding to leave Milan.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) offers their take on the reports coming  from Spain regarding a possible discussion between Milan and Philippe Coutinho of Barcelona. The Brazilian has a contract with the Blaugrana until 2023, so a loan to the Rossoneri is possible.

However, it will not be straightforward if Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara were to decide to press on the accelerator. The biggest obstacle at the moment is the salary of the former Inter and Liverpool man, which is €12m net per season. That would make him Milan’s highest paid player by some distance.

Coutinho joined Barcelona for £142m (€165m) from Liverpool as per the Echo, and he amassed 3 goals and 2 assists in 14 games for the Catalan side last season.
