Tuttosport: Romagnoli wants to stay and fight for his spot – the latest regarding his renewal

AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli wants to stay at the club and renew his contract, according to a report.

The future of Romagnoli is uncertain despite his rank as club captain, having lost his spot in the starting line-up to loanee Fikayo Tomori and with just a year left on his contract, leading to a crossroads regarding whether his six-year tenure with the Rossoneri will continue.

As explained by Tuttosport (via MilanLive), Romagnoli’s desire is to stay at Milan and his intent is to try and take back his spot in the starting XI. Moreover, with so many matches on the calendar next season he knows that there would be space for him.

Without a renewal of his contract, a stay at Milan is unthinkable as Maldini and Massara do not want a case similar to that of Donnarumma, so he must either extend in the coming weeks or he will be sold.

It will not be easy to find an agreement though, because his agent Mino Raiola wants a pay rise from the current €3.5m net per season his client earns.
