The big news of the past 24 hours is that Gerry Cardinale has chosen to go with an internal restructuring of the management, which features the promotion of figures like Hendrik Almstadt.
Kirovski is expected to gain a bit more say, though he will remain head of Milan Futuro in title, while Vergine will be the head of the youth sector, thus handling everything from the Primavera level and below.
Vergine, formerly of Roma, spoke after last night’s victory for Milan U15s, who won the Scudetto in Rimini thanks to a 2-0 victory against Empoli.
“The victory of the Under 15 men’s team is a tremendous satisfaction for us: this success represents the culmination of the important work carried out by the entire staff and by these young players throughout the season,” he said.
“In the past, this title was won by the 2007 generation, and now you can all clearly see the path they’ve taken. Today, however, the 2011 players are taking up their baton and bringing this very prestigious achievement back to their club, thus beginning a new era.
“Together with Jovan Kirovski, we are working with great dedication to further strengthen the Youth Sector, ensuring continuity in a project that focuses on the development of young players and, above all, on the development of talent. We have never stopped pursuing this goal.”
