The focus is solely on tomorrow night’s match against Cagliari, a crucial one in which a win is needed to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League. Then, from Monday onwards, Milan will ‘enter a new dimension’ as Gerry Cardinale makes some big changes.
Cardinale is expected at San Siro for the match against the Sardinians, while he is working on a decisive corporate overhaul. Alongside him on this mission is Massimo Calvelli, who joined RedBird in July 2025 and is now increasingly involved in the affairs of the Rossoneri.
Tare on the rise
Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning that, compared to a few weeks ago, the situation at AC Milan appears to have changed. Giorgio Furlani is set to leave and will likely do so after tomorrow night’s match against Cagliari.
It remains to be seen whether he will step down or be let go by Cardinale, but his departure is now a foregone conclusion. Calvelli is already searching for a new CEO: Adrian Galliani, Giovanni Carnevali, and Claudio Fenucci are on the table, but he’s also keeping an eye on potential foreign options.
Another uncertain position concerns sporting director Tare, but compared to a few days ago there is less certainty, especially if Furlani does leave. In recent interviews given by Cardinale, the owner criticised the way the transfer budget was spent.
However, it has also become public knowledge that Tare did not have full control and has often been at odds with Furlani. Moreover, the Albanian director is the one who deserves credit for bringing Luka Modric to the Rossoneri.
In the last week, both Allegri and Mike Maignan have expressed support for him. The Turin newspaper reveals that in the dressing room during the 2-1 win over Genoa, the Milan captain asked Tare to stay.
