There is a belief in Ruben Loftus-Cheek at AC Milan, and despite his injury record, there is a feeling that he could be a big player next season.

Having a player like Loftus-Cheek is a frustration and a gift. When the Englishman is fit and raring to go, he is phenomenal, but the frustration is that he never really is. His injury record is saddening, especially considering what the club saw from him in his first season.

Reliable would not be the word, but Milan had a certain sense of added attacking security from the former Chelsea man in the 2022/23 campaign, with him hitting double figures from midfield. This is exactly what Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri believe in.

Faith in him

Last season was difficult; the midfielder was not utilised under either of the Portuguese coaches. However, as MilanNews writes, this is due to him missing 27 games due to injuries and illnesses, which makes it difficult to really build around him.

With a goalscoring midfielder departing, in the form of Tijjani Reijnders, the technical midfielder can take the reins. However, Tare and Allegri must find the cure for his injuries. This could be provided with a nicer schedule, though.

“He is one of the most complete midfielders in the European panorama. He could be a key player for Milan next season: we must try to manage the injury situation better.”

Whilst he should not be a starter, he can still be important, as Tare stated earlier this week. It is dependent on him and his injuries. From there, who knows how high the ceiling is?
