Report claims Maldini is very tempted by Mönchengladbach star with expiring deal

AC Milan are interested in signing Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram whose contract expires at the end of the season, a report claims.

Il Romanista reports how the Rossoneri ownership have stressed the need to keep costs under control to help continue the resurgence of the accounts, but this summer at least one signing will be needed to reinforce the attack.

That is where Mönchengladbach’s Thuram comes into the equation. The deal is attractive to Paolo Maldini because – despite the player’s market value being around €40m – the 25-year-old will be available for free given his contract expires in June.

However, Bayern Munich have long had their eyes on the Frenchman and could make their own move, though for now they seem to be mostly focused on other objectives ahead of the summer.

Thuram has scored 13 times in 21 appearances across the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, and he could be a long-term option for the No.9 role for the Rossoneri given his age but also his experience. Given Olivier Giroud is 36 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is 41, some help for the attack could serve well.
