Yacine Adli has admitted that it was a ‘special’ game against AC Milan last night, and he explained why he didn’t celebrate after scoring the first goal of the game.

Ten minutes before the break, the home side took the lead and in rather typical fashion it was Adli who got the goal against his parent club, having joined Fiorentina on a loan with option to buy deal in the summer.

The Viola attack all started from a foul throw by Milan, and ended when the on-loan midfielder spun Christian Pulisic and curled a low effort from the left corner of the box in off the far post to make it 1-0. The home side would go on to win 2-1, with Albert Gudmundsson getting the decisive goal.

Adli spoke to DAZN at the end of the game to reflect on what has been a great few days from a personal standpoint with goals in each of his last two starts. MilanNews relayed his comments.

It has been an incredible week for you…

“Today was a special match for me. I gave so much love to this club, I wanted to do well as always, it was special. I’m happy for the team, tonight we deserve the three points.”

Did you choose not to celebrate out of said love?

“It’s the respect I have for them, for how they treated me in these two years, for the brothers I have there, for the fans who have always loved me. But I’m happy I scored.”
