Massimiliano Allegri reiterated that AC Milan must focus on their true target, even if they were to win against Inter, more specifically the Champions League.

In the last few weeks, the Scudetto has seemingly slipped away from Milan with Inter currently ten points ahead. A win tomorrow could potentially make things interesting but as Christian Vieri also highlighted, seven points is a lot when just ten games remain.
Allegri seems to be on the same wavelength as the former striker, even if the gaffer has made a thing out of constantly bringing up the Champions League race. With some teams behind Milan picking up steam, his concerns are perhaps warranted though.
Target remains the same
Speaking at the press conference earlier today, Allegri made it clear that a win tomorrow won’t really change the sitiaution for Milan. It’s also about clinching good results to position themselves well in the race for their actual target: the Champions League.

“Tomorrow night, the only thing to do is play and experience the game, then we will see how it ends. After the match, we will see if we are still 10 points behind, down 7, or down 13. Regardless of tomorrow, we must be clear about our objective: 57 points isn’t enough for the Champions League.
“The teams behind us are picking up points, and we have a tough schedule: Inter, Juve, Napoli, Lazio, and Atalanta. We still need several wins.”

“In football, you never know what can happen. For now, we will play tomorrow and then we will see. We need five wins for the Champions League. We have to work game by game, trying to get a result, which is the most important thing.”
