Bakayoko opens up about ‘disappointment’ during second spell at Milan

Tiemoue Bakayoko has opened up about the ‘difficult’ last season at AC Milan in which he made just three short appearances. The midfielder, who recently joined Lorient, admitted that it didn’t go according to plan.

Bakayoko’s two-year loan spell at Milan came to an end in the summer and the Rossoneri management were delighted to get him off the wage bill. Chelsea seemingly felt the same, letting him go on a free transfer to Lorient.

In an interview with L’Equipe, the midfielder opened up about the ‘difficult’ last season at Milan. He made it clear that he wants to put the past behind him, finding his way to the impressive form of his Monaco days.

“Last year, I didn’t get the playing time I wanted. There are lots of factors that come into play. I don’t have much to say about why I didn’t play. The coach (Stefano Pioli, editor’s note) made his choices. There was a lot of disappointment, that’s for sure.

“A footballer’s career is full of ups and downs. I took it like that and tried to be as serious as possible in training, or when I could be called upon, even if it wasn’t often. It’s been a really difficult season, but I really want to put it behind me and focus on the present,” he stated.

As said, Milan were happy to get him off the wage bill and it’s safe to say that the two-year loan was a poor business decision. Hopefully, the Rossoneri won’t have any similar cases in the coming years.
