AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer believes that he and his team-mates did not put the right ‘spirit and desire’ in their defeat to Chelsea.

Milan were comprehensively beaten 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League by Chelsea on Wednesday night after falling behind in the first half to a Wesley Fofana goal, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Reece James finishing the job in the second half.
Bennacer spoke to Milan TV after the game to reflect on the result and the performance, with MilanNews relaying his comments.
On the attitude: “We didn’t put the spirit and the same desire on the pitch, now we have to raise our heads and see what we did wrong. We have to get back into place.”
On the next match with Juventus: “When you have such a negative result it hurts a lot for everyone, we have to move on. We have to think about the next match, get back in place with another spirit and another desire to recover because it will be important.”
On wearing the captain’s armband: “When you wear the AC Milan captain’s armband you have to give more and show that you deserve it. I would have preferred to win the game. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but we have to get what we need. positive in defeats.”
