Capello on ‘spectacular’ performance against PSG: “Where was this Milan?”

AC Milan certainly bounced back with a strong performance in the clash against Paris Saint-Germain yesterday, prevailing 2-1 in the end. The former Rossoneri manager Fabio Capello was very impressed with what he saw.

After four games with just one point collected, Stefano Pioli’s men were under tremendous pressure to turn things around against PSG. It was never going to be an easy task, but they responded in the best way possible with every single player putting in a great effort.

Speaking to Sky Italia after the game, as cited by Radio Rossonera, Capello shared his thoughts on the impressive performance. He heaped praise on the Rossoneri but also questioned why Milan haven’t been playing like this all along.

“Where was this Milan? In the last 4 games, they had claimed just one point. They were a team without strength and desire, although perhaps in Naples we saw Milan in the first half. But not as beautiful as this evening, as lustful as this evening, as generous as this evening.

“And then there are the players like Leao who make a difference, this evening was spectacular! I have never lost sight of him, Leao is always worth watching in every match because even when he plays poorly, he does two or three important things. Coincidentally, it always depends on Leao: it was difficult not to award him the MVP tonight.

“A great Milan overall and this time credit must be given to Stefano Pioli. Because he managed to put a motivated team on the field,” he concluded.

The Rossoneri will take on Lecce on Saturday afternoon and then there will be another international break. They need to make the most out of yesterday’s confidence boost and clinch another three points, as Inter could be running away with the Scudetto if not.
