Cardinale ‘not happy’ with Milan’s position but highlights: “It’s a marathon”

In his Christmas message to the AC Milan fans, the club owner Gerry Cardinale admitted that he isn’t happy with the team’s current positions. However, he also highlighted that patience is needed for such an ambitious project.

Milan were knocked out of the Champions League, finishing third in the group of death, and will thus play in the Europa League next year. Furthermore, they are currently nine points behind city rivals Inter in the league standings.

In his Christmas message to the fans, therefore, the club owner Cardinale stated that he isn’t happy with the current situation. He did, however, also highlight that Milan’s project is a ‘marathon’ and not a sprint, with patience needed.

“Like all of you, I am not content with our current position in Serie A or Champions League, but I know from my decades in sports that sporting competition is a marathon, not a sprint, and there is a virtue to continuity and consistency,” he stated.

Milan will face Salernitana away from home this evening (Friday) and three points are needed to continue the recent good form. The Arechi side, led by Filippo Inzaghi, will be desperate to at least claim a point as they currently are at the bottom of the league standings.
