Cassano heaps praise on Milan for doing ‘something exceptional’ this season

Thanks to their win against Sampdoria on Sunday, AC Milan are now in first place in the Serie A standings. It has been a season of ups and downs and that’s what makes this so remarkable, former player Antonio Cassano argues.

Indeed, the Rossoneri have had to deal with a lot of difficulties this season (from Covid to many injuries) but they have always managed to fight back. The start of 2022, bar the defeat against Spezia, has been very positive for them.

Speaking live on BoboTV, as cited by MilanNews, former Milan man Cassano shared his thoughts on what the Rossoneri have achieved this season. He has played for both Milan sides and is regarded as an Inter fan.

“Let’s not forget that Milan are without Kjaer, with the question mark Kessie, and with Saelemaekers who isn’t as good as he was at the start of the season. Then there is Diaz, who hasn’t been in form, while the likes of Ibra and Rebic are often injured. Still, they are first. They are really doing something that even they couldn’t have imagined, something exceptional,” he stated.

Milan will face Salernitana and Udinese in their next two games and it’s two opportunities to put even more pressure on Inter in the Scudetto race. Having said that, it will be important for Stefano Pioli’s men to do well as they will face Inter (Coppa Italia) and Napoli in the following games.
