CBS to show Parma vs. Milan on broadcast television – why history will be made

In what amounts to a first for all parties involved, American broadcaster, CBS, has announced that it will air Parma vs. AC Milan on broadcast television.

This is the the first time the network has aired a Serie A game on their terrestrial channels and they’ve chosen a Milan game for this honour. The main reason for this is the presence of American international, Christian Pulisic, on the team.

They are also one of the ‘big three’ networks in the United States as they hold the rare distinction of being one of the country’s first broadcasters. The network is one of the most storied important media outlets in the country and the exposure they’ll give to Milan by airing this game will be invaluable.

CBS is also one of the few channels that broadcasts terrestrially, meaning that most Americans are able to access the network with something as simple as a television with an antenna. Therefore, the game will be broadcast to a wide audience and has the potential to set ratings records.

Milan will also be getting the same exposure the traditional American sports of football and college basketball have received in the country. This increased visibility will allow the Rossoneri to be exposed to a wide, American audience and potentially win over new fans of the team.

As per the network’s press release, CBS will have live match and studio coverage for the start of the Serie A season, which includes featuring a match from Italy’s top league on broadcast television. CBS Sports will feature Parma vs. AC Milan on the CBS Television Network and Paramount+ on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 12:30 PM EST or 18:30 CEST.

The match will feature a 60-minute pre-game show live from Parma and coverage will start on Paramount+ at 11:30 AM EST, and then will continue on CBS for 30 minutes on CBS at 12:00 PM EST.

As was written in a previous article, soccer is one of the fastest growing sports in America. It is currently the fourth most popular sport in the country, right after the quintessentially American sport of baseball.

The sport is continuing to rise in popularity in the US and with games like this, the Rossoneri will be at the forefront of that movement.
