CM: Arsenal defender linked with January move to Milan

AC Milan have been linked with a move for Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu in the January transfer window as the search for defensive depth intensifies, a report claims.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo on X, the Rossoneri are interested in Tomiyasu as he struggles to hold down a starting position at Arsenal.

He is not the first Arsenal defender to be linked with a move to Milan as Jakub Kiwior is also rumoured to be one of the Rossoneri’s many defensive targets.

Tomiyasu has not been a regular starter at Arsenal since he signed from Bologna, although his influence has increased in recent weeks and he seems to be a valuable option for Mikel Arteta.

That means Arsenal would be unlikely to sanction a loan deal for Tomiyasu that does not include an obligation for Milan to buy the player at the end of the season, something they may not be able to do from an economic standpoint.

Kiwior seems like the more plausible option as he plays much less for Arsenal, although he did start the recent 2-1 loss against Fulham in the Premier League.

What is certain is that Tomiyasu’s arrival would really boost the quality of Milan’s options at the back.
