CM: Astute signings, a new striker and a centre-back – Milan’s plans for the January window

The summer mercato may have only ended on Monday, but Milan are already looking ahead to the January transfer window.

According to Calciomercato.com, directors Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini will take a weekend off before starting to evaluate players ahead of January.

The Rossoneri management fully intend to further strengthen the team in all departments, and while there will be no €50m signings, there will be more smart and astute signings to reinforce and compliment the team.

After unsuccessful attempts for Ozan Kabak and Mohamed Simakan of Schalke and Strasbourg respectively, the hunt for a new centre-back have not stopped.

The part of the budget allocated to signing a new central defender will be used in the winter transfer window though, it has been confirmed, but the demands of the Bundesliga and the Ligue 1 club were too high.

The report adds that some of the opinions Maldini and Massara have about the current squad will change before the window reopens in January. For example, they will try to bring a new striker to Milanello who can allow Zlatan Ibrahimovic to catch his breath.
