CM: Call with Ancelotti and the Mendes factor – Milan back in for Real Madrid winger

AC Milan have not given up on the idea of signing Marco Asensio and they have made a fresh attempt to try and land him, a report claims.

A report from Calciomercato.com confirms the information relayed by Corriere dello Sport this morning stating that there has been a phone call from Paolo Maldini to Carlo Ancelotti to ask for information on the Spanish winger, and the latter gave the former permission to speak to the player.

The possibility of concluding a deal for Asensio currently remains ‘difficult but not impossible’ and in the next few days Maldini could present an offer not too far from the €7m net per season that the player wants.

The 26-year-old playmaker considers Milan to be a very interesting and high level opportunity, and his new agent Jorge Mendes has other talks on with the Rossoneri management such as Rafael Leao’s renewal and the Renato Sanches deal.

The parties are in contact to understand if it is possible to enter an operational phase of the negotiation with the assumption being that Real Madrid’s asking price starts at €40m.
