As pointed out by Calciomercato.com, Chukwueze was not named in the Villarreal squad that travelled to Switzerland for the camp between July 13 and July 21, but that situation has changed.
Quique Setien chose to use both Chukwueze and Arnaut Danjuma in the friendly against St Gallen. It was a wise decision as Chukwueze scored after just half an hour.
This move suggests that Chukwueze could be remaining open to the idea of staying at Villarreal, despite the serious interest from Milan.
Despite having signed Christian Pulisic from Chelsea, Milan remain open to the idea of signing the Nigerian winger as well. That would likely mean needing to sell both Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers.
There is interest in Messias from Torino but it is not clear where Saelemaekers could move.
