CM: Dortmund striker held out for Milan before accepting West Ham – the background

AC Milan are intent on signing another striker this summer, and it seems they are turning their attention away from Niclas Fullkrug. However, the German striker was ‘holding out’ for a move to Rossoneri, according to a report.

The idea of a three-prong strike force emerged at the beginning of 2024 when negotiations were underway with Olivier Giroud about a minimal role in the 2024/25 season, and whilst the Frenchman has departed, the idea very much remains.

At the beginning of the summer, the idea grew once more, and questions arose about which two strikers would arrive to complete the position. Since then, Alvaro Morata has joined, and rumours about another striker are swirling.

It seemed Milan were actively pursuing Fullkrug, but in the weeks since the initial interest, the links have slowed down, and it looks likely he will join West Ham United. However, a report from Calciomercato.com has claimed that the striker spoke to the German coaching staff about which proposition was the best for him.

It is believed that they stated a move to England was the best option, but the striker had held out hope until the last moments that the Rossoneri would be the ones to make the move happen.
