As Calciomercato.com writes, Theo was the hero on December 23 when he scored a last minute winner against Lazio to leap above Inter keep the Rossoneri top of the league. Since then though there has been somewhat of a decline, perhaps due to his physical condition because of the chaotic nature of the schedule.

Unfortunately Theo is a symbol of Milan’s 2021 as fatigue has turned into a period of physical and mental fogging, as demonstrated by the pass to Quagliarella against Sampdoria that led to them opening the scoring out of nothing.

Against Benevento though he netted his fifth goal of the season, becoming the first Milan defender since Serginho (2004-2005) to score at least 5 goals and amass 5 assists in a year. From there, with that goal, the turning point could arrive.

Paolo Maldini knows this well and he was the one who placed trust in him immediately, from the famous meeting in Ibiza to the praise during the presentation, even the private conversation with him in the aftermath of the aforementioned draw with Sampdoria. Theo is the symbol of this Milan: a low-cost coup, young and fresh from a super 2020.
