CM: Maldini to be backed in January – his over €100m+ in sales proves he deserves it

AC Milan have a budget available for the January transfer window, a report claims, and it is in part down to the smart work by Paolo Maldini.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri management will have “more than €15million” to invest in the winter market thanks to small treasure which has been accumulated in the last few windows.

Targeted purchases that have not broken the bank have been the key, while at the same time there have been some sales that have proven to be fantastic pieces of business.

The purchases of Sandro Tonali, Simon Kjaer, the return of Ibra, Rebic’s recovery and ultimately his permanent arrival have all been the product of Maldini’s exploits, but also the farewells of many players who could not give anything to Milan.

As a reminder, he sold Krysztof Piatek to Hertha BSC for €24m, Patrick Cutrone to Wolves for €22m and he has struggled since, Suso to Sevilla for €21m and Lucas Paqueta to Lyon for €20m.

Manuel Locatelli went to Sassuolo for €12.5m (which admittedly now looks a questionable move), Andre Silva left for €3m but to get Ante Rebic on favourable terms and Ricardo Rodriguez for €3m.

Therefore, a total of €105.5m in sales, and that is exactly why Elliott Management are ready to back the management again.
