AC Milan’s pursuit of a new striker for next season continues, and they have begun talks with the entourage of Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez.
According to Calciomercato.com, there was a meeting between the Rossoneri management and the agents of Santiago Giménez yesterday. The 22-year-old striker was signed from Cruz Azul in Mexico by Feyenoord for €4m last summer, and has scored 23 goals in 44 games.
His impressive performances – which fired the Rotterdam club to the league title – could see him leave in the summer. In the Europa League he faced both Roma and Lazio, against whom he scored 3 goals in 2 games.
His asking price has gone up to €20m and he is also attracting the interest of Lazio and Atletico Madrid, but Gimenez has a contract until 2026 with Feyenoord which means they have the leverage in negotiations.
In the event of a concrete attempt by Milan, it could be Divock Origi who is sold given that at the moment there is a strong interest from Fenerbahçe in the Belgian.
Either way, Milan are looking for a young striker to alternate with Giroud, and Gimenez’s agents have come forward.
