CM: Milan director Massara bewitched by Lokomotiv star but faces competition

Aleksey Miranchuk’s started the 2020/21 season with a decisive goal and it’s no surprise that several clubs have monitored his situation this summer. Milan are one of them and are still interested in the player, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Paolo Maldini and especially Ricky Massara is bewitched by the player, having expressed their interest in the past. Furthermore, Miranchuk himself is intrigued by the new Rossoneri project and would like a move to Serie A.

Contacts between Milan and Lokomotiv were re-started at the end of July, after the cancellation of Ralf Rangnick’s arrival, but the negotiations never took off for several factors. First of all, the Rossoneri don’t want to invest a lot.

Miranchuk’s contract will expire in 2021 and Milan probed the idea of a swap deal, involving their defensive outcast Diego Laxalt. The Russian side are keen on signing the Uruguayan but have only offered €7m, compared to the €10m requested.

However, there is no rush on this front, as the Rossoneri have sold their other left-back Ricardo Rodriguez to Torino. That being said, per the report, Atalanta have recently joined the race and could try to snatch the attacking midfielder.

Maldini and Massara won’t give up on the Miranchuk but as said, they won’t hurry to close a deal. Meanwhile, the Bergamo side can interest the player with Champions League qualification.
