As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, Milan know that they are going to have to replace Ballo-Toure when he eventually leaves the club, but the slow negotiations have presented a problem.
The plan was to replace the Senegalese player with Riccardo Calafiori from FC Basel, but the standstill in negotiations between Werder Bremen and Milan means that Calafiorio is expected to sign for Bologna instead.
The other linked name was Luca Pellegrini but he has since joined Lazio, so Milan are planning to put their faith in 2005-born Bartesaghi.
He could learn valuable lessons from Theo Hernandez in the process and the club will still have Alessandro Florenzi to provide further cover in that area of the pitch when it is needed.
