CM: Mission to replace Giroud begins – the name everyone agrees on

Olivier Giroud will say farewell to AC Milan at the end of the season and now the pressure shifts to the management to make sure that his goals are replaced.

Calciomercato.com report that Giroud’s departure to the MLS has been in the air for some time and must be respected given that he is at the age of 37 and he has never hidden the desire to make decisions that he deems are the best for his family.

For months Milan have been plotting who they think should come in to replace Giroud to help carry the baton for the future, and there is one name that stands out above all: Joshua Zirkzee.

Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio have been working on the operation for months, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already given his blessing to his possible purchase.

The idea would be to include one or more counterparts (Lorenzo Colombo first and foremost) plus Alexis Saelemaekers who is worth €10m. The competition is wide-ranging, but the Rossoneri believe they can win the race.

Zirkzee ‘represents that Dutch elegance that brings back the glories of the past’ as per the source, but if he were to become unattainable then Benjamin Sesko is the alternative that convinces the most, even if his €50m clause seems high.

Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP awaits a call from Milan: the strong approval of the Swede cannot be enough in the face of a €100m release clause and Sporting will not offer any discounts. This is why to date there has been no direct contact between the two clubs.

Jonathan David of Lille, Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart and Goncalo Ramos of PSG also remain on the list: three profiles who, for different reasons, could be very useful.
