According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, the countdown has begun and Ibrahimovic is moving towards renewing his deal at Milan for another year, with a decisive the next 24/48 hours in the wings.
Milan have made it clear that they do not intend to go beyond the €6million (fixed part plus bonuses) that they have offered, but Longo adds that a late attempt by Newcastle United to convince the Swede has failed.
Ibrahimovic proved what he can bring to Milan in the second half of the 2019-20 season as he netted 10 goals in Serie A to become the club’s second-top scorer after Ante Rebic.
Stefano Pioli’s permanence as the head coach appears to have pushed the 38-year-old towards renewing for what could be his final season at the top level in Europe.
