CM: Thursday’s game an opportunity for €25m Celtic star to show off in front of Maldini

AC Milan were interested in a summer move for Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer but were put off by a high asking price, a report claims.

Ajer was one of the names that was repeatedly linked to Milan over the summer as they were desperate to sign a new centre-back given how stretched the department was and is, and the player himself confirmed there was interest from Milan in an interview earlier this month.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan scouted the Norway international for a long time before discovering that Celtic’s asking price was a bit too high for their liking.

The Scottish side asked for around €25million, so directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara decided to look around at other options.

Thursday night’s Europe League clash will give Ajer the opportunity to shine in front of the eyes of Massara and convince them that he remains a viable option for the future.
