There continues to be disagreement across the Italian media regarding what AC Milan’s summer transfer budget will be, and Corriere della Sera have now given their take.
The paper (via MilanNews) reports that Milan need to invest in the squad this summer because it is unthinkable to have a situation repeat itself like this season where the reserve options were so unreliable.
The management know that they need to build a squad that is perhaps less extensive in terms of numbers, but more structured and with back-up options that can actually contribute positively.
As soon as the season is over, the Milan board of directors will define the budget, which in any case should not be less than €50m, with as many as nine players expected to depart.
The names listed are Ciprian Tatarusanu, Sergino Dest, Aster Vranckx, Ante Rebic, Divock Origi, Antonio Mirante, Yacine Adli, Fode Ballo-Touré and in all likelihood Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while the futures of Charles De Ketelaere and Brahim Diaz are to be decided.
That should bring in a further €30m for a total of around €80m that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara would be able to spend. While that figure is not comparable with some top European clubs, it is still a lot in the context of Italian football.
The first signing is close to being official and that is Daichi Kamada, the Japanese attacking midfielder whose contract with Eintracht Frankfurt is about to expire. Then, a striker, two midfielders and a right winger will be needed.
