As reported by Corriere Della Sera (via MilanLive), the striker signed a six-month deal with the Rossoneri worth around €1.8m. This means that he gave up €300K, which may seem like a small amount in the context.
However, it’s above all a signal to the fans. Mandzukic isn’t just at Milan to earn a paycheck, he wants to show that he still can play at this level. Therefore, the remaining eight games of the season will be crucial for him.
Milan confirmed shortly after the news broke that they will donate the full amount to charity, namely Fondazione Milan. In other words, the club won’t just take back the money, but rather it will be put towards a good cause.
