CorSera: Milan decide to fill sporting director role with internal promotion – the name

AC Milan could soon announce the hiring of a new sporting director to assist Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada, according to a report.

As reported by Corriere della Sera (via SempreMilan.it) this morning, it may have been a bit premature to presume that Moncada and Furlani would be carrying out all of the work in the summer transfer window.

The paper claims that the Rossoneri ownership will soon appoint the new sporting director to officially replace Ricky Massara, and they will do so by making an internal promotion.

The man indicated to fill the role will in fact be Antonio D’Ottavio, who is currently the chief scout for the youth sector. D’Ottavio was in the past a scout for Inter and right-hand man of former Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli.

His work as scouting chief of the youth sector seems to have been appreciated by both Furlani and Moncada who have decided to promote him by entrusting him with the position of new sporting director of Milan. The decision has not yet been made official.
