For many months, Milan have been linked with Renato Sanches and he appeared to be the replacement for Kessie. However, over the last few weeks, the negotiations have slowed down significantly and this has resulted in a peculiar situation.
Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have been focused on Charles De Ketelaere as of late but now that an agreement has been reached, they can focus on the midfield. This was reported by Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews), stating that Sanches remains the primary target.
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Portuguese international but they are yet to make a serious offer for Lille. Milan will try again, therefore, and it remains to be seen if they can reach an agreement (the price tag is €15-20m).
The alternative, as the newspaper points out, is a very young player: Carney Chukwuemeka. The Aston Villa man has attracted the interest of several big clubs and he has a price tag of €20m, even though his contract expires in 2023.
