CorSera: Pioli dissatisfied with players and reiterates tactical directives at Milanello

Stefano Pioli wasn’t pleased with his players for their approach in the game against Roma, failing to follow the tactical directives that were given before the clash. As a report claims, the post-match analysis had a great emphasis on this.

Milan headed into the clash with a lot of confidence, following seven wins on the trot, but this didn’t show on the pitch as Roma clearly were the better side. After the game, Pioli made it clear that he wasn’t happy with his player, although while instilling optimism for the return.

According to Corriere della Sera, as cited by MilanNews, Pioli felt that the players didn’t follow the tactical directives that he gave before the game. During the post-match analysis at Milanello, therefore, he reiterated these amid the many positional errors in the game.

In addition to highlighting where things went wrong for the players, Pioli also told the players that they have a great opportunity to turn this around. The tie is far from over and with a good performance, which we didn’t get to see on Thursday, the reverse leg could be a completely different story.

Nevertheless, Pioli’s future hangs in the balance and Italian papers have stated this morning that the reverse leg will indeed be decisive, as well as the derby.
