Milan have been very active on the transfer market thus far and have already announced three signings. Olivier Giroud will be the fourth and there is still more to come, with Brahim Diaz on his way to Italy (see here).
Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori and Sandro Tonali have been announced by the Rossoneri and it’s safe to say they aren’t mourning the departures of Hakan Calhanoglu and Gigio Donnarumma. Instead, they are working hard on reinforcing the squad.
In addition to Giroud and Diaz, Fode Ballo-Toure is also expected in the city within the next 24 hours to complete his move to the club. Milan have really made an effort, in other words, as was highlighted by Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanNews) last night.
“In a market of great economic difficulties for everyone, AC Milan have already spent 60 million euros without cashing in. Because they paid 28 million for Tomori, 7 for Tonali, 1 for Giroud, 16 for Maignan, 4 for Ballo-Touré and 3.5 million for Brahim’s two-year loan: 59 million.
“The economic effort to give Pioli the reinforcements immediately should be highlighted. In short, Milan have now spent a lot and are ready to seize the more low-cost opportunities that will emerge,” he stated.
You can question the signings that the Rossoneri have made, but it’s simply impossible to claim that Elliott Management aren’t willing to spend any money. Since they took over, they have spent a huge amount on the club.
