AC Milan’s transfer operations are on stand-by for the time being until their ownership situation is resolved, but there are still talks on over potential deals.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio spoke to German outlet WettFreunde (via TEAMtalk) and was first of all asked whether Divock Origi’s proposed move to Milan from Liverpool will happen, to which he replied: “I guess so.”
He adds that there is a ‘detailed investigation’ ongoing regarding the ownership passing from Elliott Management to Investcorp and that it why things are moving ‘very slowly’ with regards to the market, because strategies need to be confirmed and budgets established.
Milan have ‘spoken extensively with Origi’s agents’ and are ‘very close to finding an agreement’ with the player over terms, with Olivier Giroud’s situation (contract until 2023) meaning that another reinforcement is needed.
Ibrahimovic is going to be out of contract in the summer too so a centre-forward is definitely a necessity but the Rossoneri ‘don’t have a budget right now to buy a lot of defenders, midfielders and forwards’.
He adds that Milan ‘need to buy Sven Botman, possibly Renato Sanches and another one for midfield’.
