After signing Goncalo Ramos, Milan’s current priority is to reinforce the team with a defender, more specifically a centre-back. Gila, the Lazio defender, has ended up at the top of the wish list and negotiations are in full swing.

Yesterday, it was confirmed that an agreement had been reached with the player, offering a hefty contract worth €5m per year. Napoli and Atalanta are thus behind in the race as things stand, with the Rossoneri moving full steam ahead.

Instructions are clear

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, speaking live on Sky Italia late last night (via MilanNews), Milan want to close the deal by Monday or Tuesday next week. They have instructed Gila’s agent to carry out the negotiations with Lazio, and an offer of €25m plus bonuses will be made.

Claudio Lotito, the president of Lazio, has asked for €30m so far but the feeling is that an agreement can be reached in the end. As for the salary, since Gila joined Lazio when the Growth Decree was still a thing, he will benefit from that at Milan too (making the gross cost lower).
