Doubts over Krunic’s future fuelled after Coppa Italia squad omission

The rumours surrounding Rade Krunic’s future have certainly been fuelled tonight by the news that he has been left out of the squad entirely for the game against Cagliari.

A number of different sources – including us – have been reporting over the past few days and weeks that Milan had begun discussions with Krunic over the extension of his contract but they were not making any ground.

In the summer, the Bosnian midfielder had an offer on the table from Fenerbahce that would have been a big pay rise, and that seems to be conditioning his requests to extend, while Lyon were also keen on him too.

Krunic has since seemingly dropped to the bottom of the midfield hierarchies and while he did not come on in the second half against Sassuolo due to ‘back problems’ as per the line from the club, the speculation continues to swirl that an exit this month is possible.

As MilanNews confirm, Krunic was not called up for this evening’s Coppa Italia match against Cagliari. The Bosnian is out due to the same back problems that prevented him from entering the pitch in the second half on Saturday, per the club.

However, the report also confirms that Fenerbahce and Lyon are insisting with their attempts to sign him and that they have been following him with interest since last summer
