El Nacional: Mendes eager to assist Man Utd in €175m deal for Milan star

Agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly willing to try and assist Manchester United in their pursuit of AC Milan forward Rafael Leao.

According to El Nacional in Spain, Mendes is ‘preparing a new operation with Manchester United’ who are looking for attacking reinforcements during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The English side had set their sights on the striker market in order to strengthen the attack of the squad led by Erik ten Hag, but they already have Rasmus Højlund or Marcus Rashford who can play that role.

Thus, Manchester United want to incorporate another piece that would fit perfectly with the two mentioned and form a formidable trident, and Mendes – who is ‘willing to help’ – has put forward Leao.

The Red Devils believe that Leao could add an extra dynamic to their frontline with the 13 goals and 12 assists registered this season showing that he is very much a double threat.

The Portuguese winger has become the object of desire of several clubs, including Barcelona whose financial difficulties look set to hinder a move. United have shown the most interest in obtaining his services, which would cost €175m.

It is an amount of money that they are ‘willing to pay’ to alleviate the problems in front of goal and to be a team to be considered for winning titles again. Mendes wants to act as a mediator between the demands of Milan and what United can offer.

It would be fair to say that Leao did not have the best of nights on Thursday during the defeat against Roma, but the response yesterday was outstanding.
