Now that all the squads have been announced, the best betting sites have named France and Spain as virtually equal favourites, but there’s a good chance that an AC Milan player will return to the club with a World Cup medal.
Here’s a list of every AC Milan player who’s been picked for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and who could walk away with the trophy
Christian Pulisic (USA)
Likely to be a central part of the World Cup narrative, Christian Pulisic is set to captain the USMNT as they play host to the World Cup. He’ll be carrying the hopes of the major host nation all on his shoulders. Playing a World Cup at home is a once-in-a-generation experience and Pulisic will be desperate to seize it.
Santiago Gimenez (Mexico)
The Mexican centre-forward has had an awful season, in truth. He played injured at the start and then needed to undergo an operation to finally fix an ankle issue. He returned hoping to find form before jetting off for a home World Cup, yet he remained stuck on zero league goals despite making 11 starts.
Ardon Jashari (Switzerland)
The Swiss midfielder has been one of the most exciting young players in Serie A since joining Milan. At just 23, this is his first major tournament and Switzerland’s fans will be hoping he can be the creative spark that takes them beyond the Round of 16.
Alexis Saelemaekers (Belgium)
This is arguably Belgium’s last chance to make a deep tournament run, with only the dregs of their famous ‘golden generation’ core remaining. A versatile and energetic presence who can operate across the front line, Saelemaekers has had a solid season, and will play a solid part in the squad.
Koni De Winter (Belgium)
The 23-year-old centre-back has quietly been one of Milan’s more consistent performers and his call-up reflects how rapidly he’s grown as a defender. At his age, this World Cup is hopefully the first major tournament of a long international career.
Adrien Rabiot (France)
Rabiot is one of two Milan players in the France squad, and after a career resurgence at the San Siro he’s cemented himself back into Deschamps’ plans. In an arguably light midfield, Rabiot will likely play a major role for France as they hope to win a third World Cup.
Mike Maignan (France)
One of the world’s best goalkeepers and France’s undisputed number one, Maignan has been imperious between the sticks for Milan all season. France are genuine contenders and he’ll be a key reason why if they go deep in the tournament, or if they win the lot.
Rafael Leao (Portugal)
Portugal are among the outside favourites for the World Cup, and if they are to win the tournament, they’ll be relying on Rafael Leao finding some form again. Portugal are one of the favourites and Leão alongside Ronaldo, Pedro Neto and Bruno Fernandes gives them arguably the most dazzling attacking options in the tournament.
Luka Modric (Croatia)
At 40 years old, Modrić is heading to his fifth World Cup, and will be looking to cap his legendary career with another deep run for Croatia after their runner-up finish in 2018 and third place in 2022. He’ll no doubt be one of the best stories to watch this summer.
